Box Score HAVERFORD, PA- Bryn Mawr field hockey traveled to Haverford, PA on Wednesday night for a Centennial Conference game against the Fords of Haverford College. In the contested match-up, Haverford stole a win from the Owls with a fourth quarter goal.

Bryn Mawr field hockey started the game on the offensive attack and recorded their first shot at 4:06, taken by senior forward Lauren Barlow. The Owls then drew a penalty corner, and Eva Yacura took another shot for Bryn Mawr. Haverford answered the early attack from the Owls with three consecutive penalty corners in the last few minutes of the period.

Throughout period two, Haverford and Bryn Mawr battled back and forth in search of a goal. Junior Maggie Barilla's shot at 20:27 was stopped by Haverford goalie Mary Smith. Just three minutes later, Sophie Vagts attempted a second shot on goal for the Owls, but Smith staved off the shot. At the end of the half, Owls goalkeeper Charlene Basque saved a shot from a penalty corner to keep the Fords scoreless.

Coming out of the half and hungry for a goal, Bryn Mawr attacked Haverford. Senior Hazel Miller drew a penalty corner for the Owls at 31:07, and Barilla took a shot that was blocked by a Haverford defender. The Fords answered quickly with a shot of their own, but Basque stayed strong in the cage and earned her second save of the game. Basque earned three saves on the day, two of those in period three alone.

In the fourth quarter, Bryn Mawr and Haverford attacked back-and-forth. With under five minutes left to play, Haverford slipped a goal in to go up, 1-0. Bryn Mawr did not have time to find an answer and fell to the Fords.
