BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr basketball team welcomed the Wolves of Cheyney University to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium for their first non-conference game since November. The first half saw 12 lead changes split evenly between the Owls and Wolves, but Cheyney recorded a double-digit lead late in the third and never looked back, 64-46.
Highlights:
- Jessica Smith earned a season-best and game-high for the second week in a row with 28 points to lead the game on Tuesday evening. Cheyney was led by Nytasia Braxton with 17 points and six steals.
- The first half remained tight as Cheyney only outscored Bryn Mawr by two points in the opening ten minutes and the teams tied with 17 points apiece added to each scoreboard in the second.
- The Owls collected three three-pointers, their best since early January against Haverford. Hannah Mack recorded the first in the second quarter while Michelle Jiang added two more in the second half.
- The third quarter proved to be just what the doctor ordered for Cheyney as they kept Bryn Mawr's shot attempts to a minimal and outscored them 16-5.
The Owls' next two home games will be played at home as they return to Centennial Conference play on Saturday for a 1pm game against Dickinson followed by a Tuesday game against Washington College.
