HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr field hockey program won their second shutout of the season in an evening game under the lights at Haverford College's Swan Field against Alvernia University.
Highlights:
- Sophie Vagts '25 scored her third goal of the season with an assist by Maggie Barilla '26.
- Eva Yacura '25 led the Owls with five shots, followed by four taken by fellow junior Novy Goetgeluk.
- Bryn Mawr's defense held strong throughout the four periods as the Golden Wolves only took two shots on goal, both of which were saved by goalkeeper Charlene Basque '26.
- Thekla Jubinville '24 was a strong presence on the field and gave her teammates multiple scoring opportunities.
- Izzy Robinson-Cloete took two shots on goal, but both were saved by Alvernia's goalkeeper, who earned double digit saves on the day.
In the end, Vagts was the only player to score, and Bryn Mawr won 1-0.
The Owls move to a 2-0 record and will take a short break before returning to Applebee Field on Saturday in an early afternoon match-up against Mary Washington.
