The third highest point leader of the conference, Clair Marion from Dickinson, led the day with 13 points followed by teammate Mia Chapman with another 10 to claim a 69-19 win for the Red Devils.
As the fans entered the Class of 1958 Gymnasium, it was clear that the seniors' teammates, families, and friends put in hard work to make this day special. The walls were covered with decorated signs and team pictures while balloons surrounded the gym. Before their 1pm start time, both Bryn Mawr and Dickinson seniors were celebrated with flowers and words of appreciation. First called were the three Dickinson seniors Mia Kolb, Gina Neigel and Kate Montgomery who were given flowers by members of the Bryn Mawr basketball team. Next, were the Bryn Mawr seniors, Sydney Collins, Alanna Mora-Mickens, and Ella Kotsen who were each accompanied by family members and partners.
"What a special day for these seniors," said head coach Carla Coleman. "I am so proud of what they all accomplished as scholar-athletes, especially in the middle of a pandemic. Each one of them have meant so much to this program," pronounced Coach Coleman.
Mora-Mickens faced off against Red Devils Mia Kolb, but Dickinson gained first possession and got the game off to a quick start with a 15-point lead. Sophomore Hannah Binder made the Owls' first two points on free throws, but this would be the only made points for Bryn Mawr and Dickinson extended their lead 27-2.
The Owls struggled to make a basket in the first half of the second quarter with each shot rolling out of the rim. Finally, Kotsen made a free-throw, which began a string of shots by the senior in the last game of her college career. In the remaining minutes of the half, Kotsen made both a tip-in and a jump shot. Fellow senior Mora-Mickens would also add points to the Owls' scoreboard with a made jumper. At the end of the half, Dickinson led 42-9.
Before returning from halftime, the Owls celebrated one more senior, Sydney Garner who will be graduating this year along with the Class of 2023. Garner played on the Bryn Mawr basketball team between the years of 2016-2019 and served as a student coach for her former teammates this season.
The Owls added some additional points in the third quarter, sophomore Zoe Boxill and Sena Kaper-Dale each making a layup. Sophomore Kris Pasia made her first three-point jumper of the game to close out the Owls scoring of the quarter.
Bryn Mawr would make one additional shot in the fourth quarter. With only a minute and a half remaining in the game, junior Aliya Stubenbord made her first three-pointer of the season. Throughout the game, the Red Devils' offense never let up and they won the game 69-19.
As the Owls take a break after a long season, the entire Bryn Mawr Athletics Department congratulates the Class of 2023 basketball players and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
