Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr basketball program put in a strong showing against McDaniel in their first conference match-up of the season but were unable to manage a win against the Green Terrors. Jess Smith led the Owls with 23 points, scoring more than 50% of Bryn Mawr's points. Although the Green Terrors went home with the win, Bryn Mawr kept the score closer than in last November's game against the team.
Elaina Beckett led the scoring for the Green Terrors in the first quarter, making five jump shots and two out of three free throws. Jess Smith scored Bryn Mawr's first ten points as she was the only Owl to find a bucket in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with McDaniel holding an early 20-10 lead.
Smith continued to lead Bryn Mawr in the second quarter with three made two-point jump shots. Hannah Govert and Sydney Collins added to the Owls' score with a three-pointer and two-pointer respectively. However, the Green Terrors added 19 to the scoreboard and extended their lead by 16 points by the end of the quarter.
The Owls only managed to add six points to the scoreboard in the third quarter. Smith added four points while Alanna Mora-Mickens and Kris Pasia each scored their first two-point jump shots of the day. Unfortunately for the Owls, the Green Terrors had their best quarter of the game in the third, adding 22 points, leaving Bryn Mawr trailing by 30 points.
The Owls played a tight four quarter but were unable to make a comeback. Smith and Mora-Mickens each made a two-pointer and a free throw, while Sena Kaper-Dale and Pasia made three additional free throws. Although the Owls played a strong last quarter, McDaniel's lead proved too great, and the game ended with a Green Terror victory (73-41).
Bryn Mawr will welcome the Mules of Muhlenberg to campus for an evening game on Tuesday.
