Bryn Mawr's Season Comes to a Close

The Owls volleyball program traveled to Swarthmore for their final evening match to wrap up the season. Bryn Mawr played tight in the second and third set but were unable to earn one last win (5-25, 14-25, 14-25).

Sydney Munnerlyn led the Owls in both offensive and defensive categories, finishing her last match of the fall season with three kills and three blocks. Despite not seeing much court time, junior Bintou Dembele demonstrated her offensive capabilities, leading the Owls in service aces (2). She also scored two kills and made three digs throughout the match. Sophomore Zoe Boxill led the team in assists (6) and sophomore Orli McGuire-Berk made 11 of out Bryn Mawr's 35 total digs.

Swarthmore came out on fire in the first set. Elise Perry and Sydney Collins each hit a kill, but the visiting Owls only managed to win five points throughout the set.

Bryn Mawr gained an early lead in the second set after a service ace from Abby Koppisch and kills from Boxill and Collins (6-3). However, the Garnets won the next 10 points, seven of which were kills, and took a seven-point lead. The Owls down 6-13, Dembele hit her first kill of the night and stopped Swarthmore's offensive charge. Five points later, Dembele struck again, hitting her first service ace of the match to reduce the Garnet's lead to five (10-15). The Owls won four additional points, but the Garnets took the set (25-14).

The third set did not begin in the Owl's favor, as the Garnets took a quick 11-1 lead. Yet, in this moment, the Owls' proved their resilience and won the next three points. The Owls did not stop there. Bryn Mawr won the next five of nine points after kills from Micah Sheppard, Dembele, and Munnerlyn, and a service ace from Koppisch, reducing the Garnet's lead to six (9-15). Bryn Mawr won the next three of six points, Munnerlyn hitting her third kill and Dembele hitting her second service ace. The Owls managed to win two more points, one of which was a kill by Sheppard, but the Garnets won the third and final set (14-25).

The Owls end their season with a 6-15 overall record and a conference record of 0-10.
