Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored 10 minutes into the first period and added three goals in under five minutes midway through the second half to knock off the Bryn Mawr Owls 4-1 on Wednesday night.
Ursinus improves to 6-6 on the season, 3-2 in Centennial Conference play, while Bryn Mawr drops to 10-2, 4-1 in Conference.
Jordan Moore earned a hat-trick for the Bears, capitalizing in the run of play on the first goal, a penalty corner with 12 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, and the final goal for Ursinus on a deflection in front at 49:12.
Sophie Vagts scored her first collegiate goal with five minutes to play as late consolation for the visitors. Charlotte Hauptman attacked down the right baseline before the ball deflected off the Ursinus goalkeeper Jordan Ulsh out to Lilith Weinlick, who found Vagts in front of goal.
Vagts lifted the ball past the right foot of the Ulsh and into the boards. Although the Owls kept pushing for the final five minutes, they could do more damage.
Ursinus outshot Bryn Mawr 17-12 in the game, although shots were level 10-10 after the opening period. Bryn Mawr also held an 8-4 edge in penalty corners, including 8-1 after the first quarter.
Eva Yacura led the Owls with five shots on the evening, and Maggie Titus made 8 saves in goal.
Bryn Mawr will host McDaniel in an important Conference encounter on Saturday at 1 PM.
