Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls continued their season on Wednesday afternoon, playing on their home turf against Muhlenberg. Paige Mastripolito scored her fourth goal of the season, while goalkeeper Natalia Chorzepa had another strong showing at net and Koren Woznicki made two shots in the first half.
The game was off to a quick start as the Mules racked up two shots within the first five minutes of the game, but neither were able to get past Chorzepa. Bryn Mawr had their own opportunity to score a minute later. After bringing the ball to the other side of the field, the Owls continued passing the ball to one another until an opportunity to shoot finally arose. Koren Woznicki received the ball and made a shot, but the Mules goalkeeper was ready and caught the ball in mid-air. Over the next twenty minutes, the Mules continued to shoot, but none caught the back of the net. At 30:49, Woznicki attempted another goal, but the shot was saved yet again. The half looked as if it would end without a goal from either team, but the Owls' good fortune arrived at 8:38 remaining on the clock. Chorzepa kicked the ball to the mid-field after a strong save from a Muhlenberg shot. Paige Mastripolito was the first to touch the ball and took it the rest of the way to the net. Mastripolito wound her long stride and blasted the ball over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The half ended with Bryn Mawr in the lead (1-0).
The second half was off to a similar start as the first. Muhlenberg continued to maintain possession of the ball, receiving an opportunity to score around 52:30. Mules player, Bri Astbury took a corner kick for her team. Her shot went perfectly to teammate Emily Cevallos who headed the ball past Chorzepa and into the net to tie the score at 1-1. Bryn Mawr were unable to shoot until around 76:25. Receiving a strong kick from Sarah Walker around mid-field, Mastripolito looked to take another goal for Bryn Mawr. However, to the dismay of her teammates, the shot was not quite strong enough and it landed straight into the hands of the goalkeeper. As the clocked wound down to three minutes, the crowd thought the game would end in a tie. However, a few second later, Jocelyn Mertz took a shot for the Mules. Her kick went past the hands of Chorzepa and Muhlenberg took the lead. Sarah Walker took one more shot for Bryn Mawr a minute later, but it was saved by the goalkeeper and Muhlenberg won the game (1-2).
The Owls will travel to Carlisle, Pa. on Saturday for an afternoon game against Dickinson College.
