Box Score 2 BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – With earning a pair of wins against Bryn Athyn (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) and St. Elizabeth's (26-24, 25-22, 25-23), the Bryn Mawr College volleyball team is off to the programs best start since 1986 when the Owls started 6-0.
In the day's opening match with the host Lions, Bryn Mawr downed BAC 3-0. Leading the way for the Owls was sophomore Rachel Ofili who exploded for 17 kills. She added an ace, block and dig. Classmate Sarah Gates tallied 11 kills while junior Samantha Abbott chipped-in five.
Handing-out a team-best 21 assists was junior Danielle Preziuso. Sophomore Zoe Holman added 14 assists and seven digs.
Abbott led the service for the Owls against Bryn Athyn with three aces. Gates, senior Miranda McDevitt and Preziuso added two aces each.
In the days second game, Bryn Mawr had their hands full with ST. Elizabeth. After going into overtime volleyball in the first game, the Owls rallied back in the second to win 25-22 followed by a 25-23 3win in the third.
Once again it was Ofili leading the Yellow and White with nine kills. Abbott and sophomore Noemi Moreno added six while Gates and junior Ellen Chiu totaled five each.
Preziuso handed-out 30 assists. Collectively, the Owls scored eight aces while Ofili led the way with three blocks.
The Owls take their perfect record to the Knights Invitational Friday afternoon at Neumann University. Bryn Mawr will take on Rutgers-Camden and Pitt.-Bradford at 4:00 and 8:00 pm, respectively.
