Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The visiting Franklin & Marshall volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-20) win over the Owls Saturday, but the win didn't come easy.
In the opening set, Bryn Mawr held an early 9-3 lead, but the service from Caroline Hubbard and Ellie Ezekiel allowed the Diplomats to catch-up and eventually take the lead, 18-15. The Owls pulled within one, 19-18, but F&M outscored the owls 6-4 down the stretch to win the first set.
Despite a slow start in the second that saw Bryn Mawr fall behind 6-0, the Yellow and White kept digging and tied the game at 20-20. Bryn Mawr eventually took the lead, 23-22, but once again it was the Dips staying strong down the stretch and earning the 25-23 win.
In the third and final set, the Owls led twice in the middle of the set, before F&M kept pushing along to win it 25-20 and their 12th win of the season.
Junior Samantha Abbott led the way for the Owls with 12 kills. Sophomore Rachel Ofili added six and classmate Sarah Gates added five. Senior Victoria Peltonen tallied a pair of kills on the afternoon.
Junior Danielle Preziuso handed-out 21 assists, tallied eight digs and two blocks while sophomore Zoe Holman posted 12 digs.
Ofili posted three total blocks while Abbott and Preziuso added two each. Abbott also served a team-best three aces.
The Owls are back to action when they travel to Muhlenberg for a 7:00 pm match with the Mules on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
