Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The visiting Ursinus Bears scored twice in each half as they defeated Bryn Mawr soccer 4-0 in Centennial Conference action Wednesday afternoon.
After continued back-and-forth play for the majority of the first-half, Ursinus's Nicole Good broke the o-o deadlock with an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute. Three minutes later, Jacqueline Smiler made it 2-0 with her own unassisted goal.
That score held the remainder of the half as the Bears clung to the 2-0 lead.
Seventeen minutes into the second-half, Erin Farrell took an Ama Achiaw pass to make it 3-0. At the 75th minute, Farrell fed Darcy Wood a pass that beat Bryn Mawr's goalie, sophomore Aviva Kosansky, to push their lead to four and secure their first Centennial Conference win of the season.
For the Owls, freshman Mary-Kate Afzali, juniors Marcela Dorfsman-Hopkins and Lindsey Lyons, and senior Karina Siu took one shot each. Getting the start for the Owl in goal was senior Valentina Viertel but a cramp in the 24th minute sidelined her for the rest of the game. Kosansky, her replacement, posted four saves.
Bryn Maw returns to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they play host to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats at 1:00 pm.
