Box Score 2 BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Bryn Mawr split their home tri-match Saturday afternoon as they fell to McDaniel 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 20-25, 18-16) and defeated Gywnedd-Mercy 3-1 (265-16, 25-11, 20-25, 25-13) Saturday afternoon inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
In the day's opening match and their Centennial Conference opener, the Bryn Mawr volleyball team battled the Green Terror to the end before back-to-back kills from McDaniel gave the visitors the win.
For the Owls, junior Samantha Abbott tallied a team-high 14 kills while the sophomore duo of Rachel Ofili and Sarah Gates also hit double-digits in kills with 13 and 12, respectively. Senior Victoria Peltonen and junior Ellen Chiu added three kills each.
Junior Danielle Preziuso handed out a game-best 43 assists. With the 43 assists, Preziuso is now 2nd all-time in assists in a five game match. Former setter, Emma Wisniewski-Barker holds the single game record with 54 which was set back on Sept. 1, 2007 against Cedar Crest.
Also reaching the all-time list was sophomore Zoe Holman who recorded 32 digs on the contest. Peltonen and Abbott 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Gates tallied a game-high eight blocks while freshman Caroline Cosby totaled five blocks. Abbott added three blocks on the contest.
In the second match of the day, Ofili led the way with 12 kills while Chiu added nine. Gates and Abbott combine for 11 kills in the non-conference match-up.
Preziuso totaled 20 assists while Holman dished-out 18. Holman and senior Miranda McDevitt added recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Ofili tallied six total blocks and Preziuso added four.
The owls are back to action when they travel to PSU-Abington this Tuesday for a 7:00 pm contest with the Lady Lions.
