F&M Proves Too Much For Basketball

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – All five of Bryn Mawr's starters tallied points but the host Diplomats used a 33-point first-half to down the Owls 64-27 in non-league action Saturday afternoon.

The Owls jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind the post play of senior Nicolette Parmese before the Diplomats tied the game a minute later. The Owls regained the lead when junior Ashton Dwyer drained a long three just 3:31 into the game. However, that was the last time the Owls would lead in the game.

Over the next forty seconds, Franklin & Marshall took the lead and never looked back. The Dips went on a 16-6 run over the next ten minutes to extend their lead. During the final five minutes of the opening half, Parmese scored all six of the Owls' points as F&M took a 33-19 lead into the half.

In the second, the Owls were held to scoreless during the opening 5:39 before Junior Saira Kitagawa made a baseline jumper. Parmese added three points for the Owls over the next two minutes before they were held scoreless again for more than six minutes. Senior Elizabeth Jenkins broke that scoreless streak with a jumper at 6:25.

During the final six minutes of regulation, sophomore Veronica Roux tallied the Owls only point with a free throw at 1:51.

A pair of Diplomats reached double digits as Jessica Dowicz and Kristina McCarthy tallied 14 and 13 points, respectively. Caroline Studnicky added a team-best 10 rebounds.

Leading all scorers on the afternoon was Parmese with 15 points. She picked-up her sixth straight double-double by grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds.  Also scoring for the Owls was freshmen Alyana Garner (3 points) and Tosin Ajiboye (1 point). Freshman Adriana Castilla-Hernandez recorded a team-best three steals on the afternoon.

The Owls are off for the remainder of the fall semester. They return to completive action when they host Haverford College on Thursday, Jan.16, at 7:00 pm.
