Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Samantha Abbott, Miranda McDevitt, Shannon Murphy and Victoria Peltonen where honored for their hard work and dedication to the Bryn Mawr College volleyball team before their final intercollegiate game Wednesday evening.
The final time that the four players laced-up their shoes and donned the Yellow and White was against arch rival Haverford. The Owls fell to their rivals 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-12) in the season finale.
Haverford started the match by taking a commanding 10-2 led in the opening set. After battling back and pulling within seven, 15-8, Haverford held the Owls to just three more points the remainder of the way to take the first set 25-11.
In a back-and-forth second set, both team held the lead, but it was Haverford who took home the 25-21 win. In the third set, the Fords jumped out to a quick 8-0 but the Owls flew back and pulled within three, 5-8. Every time Haverford started to pull away, Bryn Mawr reeled them back in but down the stretch, Haverford outscored the Owls 15-6 to win their 20 match of the season.
Leading the Owls and posting nine kills was Rachel Ofili. She added three total blocks and a pair of digs. Abbott chipped-in four kills while sophomore classmates Sarah Gates and Noemi Moreno tallied two each.
Junior Danielle Preziuso handed-out 17 assists while sophomore Zoe Holman recorded 11 digs. McDevitt added six digs and two service aces.
At the conclusion of the game, the 2013 season came to an end. The Owls end the season 12-15 overall and 2-8 in Centennial Conference play.
