Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The annual meeting between Bryn Mawr Swarthmore concluded with the Garnet posting a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-21) win Centennial Conference action Tuesday evening.
Both teams battled in the opening set in which both sides led throughout the set. After Swarthmore tied the game at 10-10, the Garnet pushed their lead to five, 20-15, but the Owls never gave up and pulled within one, 19-20. The Yellow and White tied the game at 23 all, but back-to-back kills gave Swarthmore the opening set win.
In the second set, Bryn Mawr took an early lead, but it was short-lived as the Garnet not only tied at the game at 3-3, but continued to push on. The Owls pulled within three, 16-13, but Swarthmore outdistanced themselves by outscoring Bryn Mawr 9-3 down the stretch.
The third and final set saw action similar to the first one as the game went back and forth the entire way. The Owls led by four, 19-15, but service from Swarhtmore's Danielle Sullivan put the Garnet in the lead, 20-19, before closing out the set on a 5-2 run.
Pacing the Owls was sophomore Rachel Ofili with 14 kills and a pair of block assists. Classmate Sarah Gates added 10 kills while junior Samantha Abbott tacked-on five.
Junior Danielle Preziuso tallied 30 assists and 15 digs on the evening. Sophomore Zoe Holman posted 15 digs and Abbott added 12.
The Owls are back on the hardwood as they travel to Dickinson College on Thursday, Oct. 24, for a 7:00 pm contest with the Red Devils.
