Handy Nets 11 Points on the Road at Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, Md. – Host Johns Hopkins used a 48-points first half en route to an 86-29 Centennial Conference win Thursday night over the visiting Bryn Mawr College Owls.

The first-half belonged to the Blue Jays as Hopkins took a 40-points lead, 48-8, into the lockers. Despite netting the games' first basket, a layup from junior Jackie Handy, the Owls were held scoreless for more than 14 minutes the Jays took their commanding lead.

At the end of the half, Handy tallied five points while classmate Nicolette Parmese added three.

The second-half fared better for the Owls as they tallied 21 points. Parmese led all scorers in the half with 13 points while Handy and sophomore Quinn Conlan added six and two points, respectively.

Johns Hopkins placed three players - Ciara McCullagh, Liz Tommasi and Alex Vassila - in double-digit scoring with Vassila earning a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.

Parmese led the Owls with a team-high 16 points while Handy chipped-in 11. Parmese added seven rebounds while freshman Ashlee Williams handed out four assists.

Bryn Mawr is back to action when they travel to Washington College on Wednesday, Jan. 23, f0r a 6:00 pm showdown with the Shorewomen.
