Box Score

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College volleyball team dropped a nail biter Thursday evening on the Mina Line to visiting Ursinus 3-2 (15-25, 25-20, 11-25, 25-17, 15-8) in Centennial Conference action.

The Owls controlled the first set after falling behind 3-1 early on. Three runs for Bryn Mawr produced 14-ppoints and had the Yellow and White with a commanding 24-15 lead behind the service of freshman Sarah Gates and Zoe Holman, and sophomore Ellen Chiu. The set was won on a service error by Ursinus.

In the second, Bryn Mawr fell behind early, 10-5. They rallied back to pull within three, 12-15, but Ursinus proved too much closed out the set on a 10-8 rally.

The third set was the total opposite to the second as the Owls dominated the Bears. Freshman Rachel Ofili posted six kills in the set followed by classmate Noemi Moreno and senior co-captain Hannah Rosebrock with two kills each. The set was won on a kill from sophomore co-captain Danielle Preziuso with the assist from Holman.

Up 2-1, the Owls looked to be in the driver's set, but Ursinus would back down. In the fourth, Ursinus led the entire set. The Bears cruised to the 25-17 win forcing the deciding fifth set.

In the fifth and final set of the evening, Ursinus jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Bryn Mawr battled back and pulled within two, 8-10. Not frazzled, the Bears scored five straight to close out the set the same way it started.

Ofili led the owls with a game-high 16 kills while Moreno added nine and Chiu tallied eight. Preziuso dished-out 38 assists while Holman and Moreno combine for 28 digs. Ofili ended the evening with 10 total blocks, falling one block short of the school record for total blocks in a game; however, her eight block assists on the night is a new school record.

The Owls are back to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they play host to Franklin and Marshall at 1:00 pm inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
