Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Making their Centennial Conference home opening debut, the Bryn Mawr College volleyball didn't disappoint as they defeated visiting McDaniel College 3-1 (25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 25-12) Saturday afternoon.
The Owls jumped out to an early 1-0 lead following the first set. After dropping the second set 15-25, the Owls rebounded in the third and fourth, 25-23 and 25-12, respectively, en route to their first Centennial Conference win of 2012. It was also the first Centennial Conference victory for first-year head coach Nicole Kelly.
Leading the Owls on the afternoon was freshman Rachel Ofili (pictured). Ofili posted a game-high 16 kills on 31 attempts (.419) and seven total blocks; she also posted 10 digs. Sophomore Danielle Preziuso dished-out 33 assist while classmate Ellen Chiu tallied nine kills. Freshman Sarah Gates added seven kills.
As a team, the Owls totaled 42 kills while posting a 30.7 hitting percentage and eight blocks. They also recorded nine aces over the four-set match.
With the win, the Owls make it three-in-a-row against the Terror but McDaniel still holds a commanding 17-3 record in the all-time series.
Bryn Mawr is back to the hardwood when they host Ursinus College on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7:00 pm inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
