Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – In the annual meeting between the two schools, the Cabrini Cavaliers defeated Bryn Mawr, 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-20), in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
Both teams battled in opening stage of the game, but with the game 1 deadlocked at 10-10, Cabrini pulled ahead of the Owls 17-12. Bryn Mawr clawed back and was within one, 18-19, before the Cavs pushed on to take the game 25-21.
Cabrini came out in the second game making a statement. The Cavaliers were leading 10-1 before sophomore Avary Taylor broke their momentum with a kill from freshman Noemi Moreno. Cabrini charged on by outscoring Bryn Mawr 15-8 to win game two.
In the third game, the Owls led a majority of the game behind the offensive attack tandem of freshmen classmates Sarah Gates and Rachel Ofili. Bryn Mawr was up 11-8 and then 15-12; before Cabrini tied the game at 15 three serves later. After lead exchanged hands a few times, the Cavaliers took the lead for good, 18-17, and never looked back.
Ofili and Moreno tallied six kills each while sophomore Danielle Preziuso (pictured) handed out 20 assists. Moreno added 14 digs while sophomore Ellen Chiu totaled 11.
The Cavs take a 15-12 lead in the series while making it eight straight wins over the Owls.
Bryn Mawr is back to action when they travel to Washington College for their 2012 Centennial Conference opener on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7:00 pm.
