Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Nicolette Parmese tallied her 13th double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds as host Muhlenberg College defeated the Owls, 71-39, Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference action.
The Mules opened the game on a 14-0 run that spanned the opening four and half minutes before Parmese and classmate Jackie Handy recorded back-to-back buckets. Over the next ten minutes, Muhlenberg pushed their lead to 25, 33-8, with 5:15 left in the half.
During the final five minutes of the opening half, freshman Holly Constants, Parmese and junior Aislinn Toohey combined for seven points. Muhlenberg held a 26-point lead at the half, 41-15.
The second-half fared differently from the opening stanza as both teams exchanged baskets with back-and-forth play. Bryn Mawr continued to play hard despite being outscored 30-24 in the half as Muhlenberg picked-up their 17th victory of the season.
With 5:20 remaining, Muhlenberg took their largest lead of the game, 39, 67-28, on a Janelle Fleet layup. Following Fleet's layup, the Owls finished the game on an 11-2, which included holding Muhlenberg scoreless for five minutes.
Leading Muhlenberg was Alita Zabrecky with 14 points off the bench. Alexandra Chili, the conference's leading scorer on the season by averaging 17 points per game, was held to 11 on the evening.
In addition to Parmese's double-double, Constants and Handy added six points each. Toohey chipped-in five points while handing out a game-high six assists.
Bryn Mawr is back to action this Saturday when they host the Dickinson College Red Devils at 1:00 pm inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
