Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College basketball team played host to one of their biggest rival, Swarthmore College, Tuesday night in the Owls' final home game of the season. The Garnet used a 34-point first-half en route to a 60-33 win over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference action.
Swarthmore opened the game on a 16-0 run that spanned 5:57 before sophomore Nicolette Parmese got the Owls on the board with a layup. The Garnet closed out the first-half outscoring the Owls 15-11 over the half's final 10 minutes.
Bryn Mawr pulled within right points, with 2:24 to play, when Parmese connected don one of two free-throws. Swarthmore held a 13-points lead at the half, 34-21.
The Owls were held to only one point the opening five minutes of the second-half before sophomore Jackie Handy registered a pair of free-throws at the 14:57 mark. Bryn Mawr tallied four points over the next five minutes, all coming from Parmese.
Over the final ten minutes of the game, the Owls were held to five points, a three-pointer from freshman Danielle Preziuso and a layup from Parmese, as Swarthmore cruised to their ninth win of the season.
Katie Lytle paced the Garnet by tallying pair of team-best, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Elle Larson added 10 points for the Garnet.
Parmese picked-up her 14th double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, all coming on the defensive side of the ball. Junior Aislinn Toohey added eight points while Handy tallied seven. Handy grabbed eight rebounds while Toohey handed out two assists.
The Owls return to the hardwood for their second-to-last game of the season when they travel to Johns Hopkins on Thursday, February 16. The Centennial Conference showdown is set for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
