Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – In the final soccer game of the 2012 season, the Bryn Mawr College Owls were defeated by host Goucher College, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in non-league action.
The Gophers got on the board at 17:33 with a header by Sherlanda Buskey off a cross by Gaby Davis. Both teams battled the remainder of the half which ended with Goucher holding a one-goal lead.
In the second, Lindsey Puopolo took another Davis feed off a free kick at 58:26. The Owls defense, led by junior Marian Slocum, kept the Gophers at bay the remainder of the game but was unable to cut into their 2-0 deficit. Goucher held on to claim their 12th win of the season with the 2-0 decision.
Leading the Owls with a pair of shots was freshman Allegra Levy. Sophomore Marcela Dorfsman-Hopkins tallied on shot for the Owls. Senior goalie Rebecca Joseph posted nine saves in final collegiate game wearing the Yellow and White.
The Owls ends the season 4-10-3 overall and 1-7-2 in the Centennial Conference. In the Owls lone conference win, a 1-0 decision victory over McDaniel, marked the first time in series history that they Owls defeated the Green Terror.
Leading Bryn Mawr in 2012 was Dorfsman-Hopkins with three goals. Freshman Caitlin Homstad posted two goals before suffering a season-ending injury against Ursinus. Also netting multiple goals was freshman Veronica Roux while freshmen Nina Bertolami, Levy, Helena Van Oudenallen and Alexandra Wiegel posted one goal each. Siu led the Owls with two assists while Bertolami and Levy, freshman Hannah Broderick and sophomore Makala Forster added one assists on the season. Joseph posted 119 saves.
