SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The annual showdown between the Owls and the Garnet ended with Swarthmore scoring a straight-set, 3-0 (25-5, 25-8, 25-22), decision over the Owls for Swarthmore's 'Dig for a Cure' game in support of Tanner's Touch.

Swarthmore started the match on roll by taking the first two set by holding Bryn Mawr to a mere 13 total points. Tied at two early on, Swarthmore went on a six-point run pushing their lead to 8-2. With the score at 15-5, Swarthmore outscored the Owls 10-0 down the stretch to take the opening set.

The second set started similar to the first with the score notched at 2-2 early on. Swarthmore began their run by jumping out to another 15-5 lead before outscoring Bryn Mawr 10-3 the remainder of the way.

The third set saw a different tone as it looked like the Owls were going to force a fourth set and try to mount a comeback. Down eight, Bryn Mawr rallied to tie the game at 15-15 forcing Swarthmore to call a timeout. Both teams stayed within reach of each other down the stretch, but back-to-back kills by the Garnet and an attack error on the Owls proved to be the difference.

Bryn Mawr was led by Freshman Rachel Ofili with seven kills and four total blocks. Sophomore Ellen Chiu, freshman Sarah Gates and senior Hannah Rosebrock added two kills each while freshman Zoe Holman handed-out 12 assists. Ofili posted five digs as Rosebrock chipped-in with four.

Tanner's Touch is a non-profit organization based in Carroll County, Md., founded by former Gettysburg assistant volleyball coach Stephanie (Yingling) Moore in honor of her son who was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of pediatric cancer in 2009. Tanner's Touch will, in turn, donate the proceeds to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cancer Research.

Bryn Mawr will close out the regular season this Thursday, Oct. 25, as they host Haverford College at 7:00 pm.
