Box Score 2 BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bryn Mawr College volleyball team dropped a pair of match Saturday afternoon as they fell to host Johns Hopkins 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-15 ) and Susquehanna 3-0 (25-7, 25-19, 25-13).
In the day's opening match against host Johns Hopkins, the Owls were unable to find their grove. After falling in the opening set 25-10, Bryn Mawr was able to only tally six points in the second. In the match's final set, Bryn Mawr was able to hang around with the Blue Jays before Hopkins cruised to the 25-15 win.
Leading the Owls with four kills and three total blocks was freshman Rachel Ofili. Freshman Rachel Gates and senior co-captain Hannah Rosebrock totaled three kills each. Freshman Zoe Holman handed-out 12 assists while freshman Noemi Moreno, Ofili and Rosebrock recorded four digs each.
In their afternoon match with Susquehanna, the Crusaders powered themselves to 3-0 win. Ofili led the Owls with eight kills and five total blocks. Moreno added four kills while Holman added 16 assists. Moreno, Ofili and sophomore Ellen Chiu totaled seven, six, and five digs, respectively.
With her eight blocks on the day, Ofili broke the school record for total blocks in a season that was previously held by Lindsey Kieffaber (2005) and Lara Owen (2002) with 92. To date, Ofili has 93 total blocks (61 assists, 32 solos). Her 61 block assists is also a new school record. That record was previously 46 and was held by former all-conference selection Mikecia Witherspoon (2008).
Bryn Mawr is back to the hardwood when they travel to Swarthmore for a 7:00 pm contest on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
