Parmese Notches 10th Double-Double of the Season

Box Score

BRYN MAWR, Pa.– Sophomore Nicolette Parmese's game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds against visiting Ursinus College was the tenth-time this season that the center reached double-digits. In the end, the Bears defeated Bryn Mawr, 56-27, in Centennial Conference action.

Parmese got the game started in fashion as she connected on a layup for the game's first basket at 18:47, but the lead was short-lived. The Bears answered Bryn Mawr's basket by going on a 12-0 run that spanned more than seven minutes to take a 12-2 lead with 11:34 to play.

After an exchange of baskets by the Bears and Owls, Ursinus distanced themselves from the Owls while outscoring them 10-8 the final 10 minutes of half to take 24-12 lead. Over those 10-minutes, Parmese tallied five points while freshman Danielle Preziuso added a three-ball at the 4:25 mark.

To start the second-half, Ursinus added to their lead, 31-12, as they held Bryn Mawr scoreless over the opening 4:48. Junior Ashlinn Toohey tallied her only basket of the game to get the Owls on the board at 15:12.

At the 9:55 mark, Ursinus held a 19-points lead, 39-20, before Ursinus outscored the Owls 17-7 the remainder of the game.

In addition to Parmese's double-double, she tallied one assist, block and steal. Sophomore Jackie Handy pulled down 10 rebounds while freshman Holly Constants added a pair of baskets. Junior Sorraya Terrab snagged four rebounds and tallied two blocks.

The Owls are back to action when they host Rutgers-Camden on Thursday, February 2, at 7:00 pm, inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. The non-conference tilt with the Raptors will also be the second "Owls Fight for a Cure" event of the winter season. There will be give-a-ways and a special halftime performance by Bryn Mawr's own, Extreme Keys.
