Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Junior Aislinn Toohey tallied a career-best 21 points including five baskets from beyond the arch but it wasn't enough to hold off Cedar Crest. The Falcons downed the Owls 77-60 in non-conference action Thursday night.
Bryn Mawr led Cedar Crest over the opening 3:39 before a jumper from Amber Wehry broke the games third tie to give the Falcons the lead for good.
Down by as many of 13, Bryn Mawr continued to claw away at their deficit and pulled within six, 24-30, on a pair of Nicolette Parmese free-throws with 2:20 remaining. The Falcons held the Owls scoreless until sophomore Jackie Handy connected on a baseline jumper with 26-ticks left in the half. Cedar Crest held a 40-26 lead at the half.
Out of the intermission, Cedar Crest added to their lead with three consecutive baskets to take their largest lead of the evening, 20, 46-26, with 18:53 to play. Bryn Mawr answered with four-straight baskets from Parmese, Handy and Toohey to cut their deficit to 11.
With just under 6:30 left in the game, Bryn Mawr came within five points, 54-59. Cedar Crest outscored the Owls 17-6 over the final six minutes of the game to pick-up their second win of the season.
In addition to Toohey, Parmese added a team-high 22 points while Handy chipped-in 13. Parmese tallied her 7th double-double of the season with 10 rebounds as Handy earned her third of the season with team-high 11 boards.
Bryn Mawr returns to the hardwood when they travel to Franklin and Marshall on Saturday, January 14, for a 1:00 pm contest.
