BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College soccer team defeated visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University, 2-0, Thursday afternoon to improve to 4-0 on the season. The 4-0 start to the season is the best start in program history.

The Owls got on the board first when senior Katie Seto found the back of the net in the 5th minute. The play started when senior Rebecca Feuerhammer took a shot from the top of the box that hit off the crossbar. The rebound ricocheted back to Feuerhammer were she headed it back to the net. Notre Dame's goalie Heather Lancellotti deflected the ball away as Seto crashed to the net and found the ball at her feet as she kicked-it home to give Bryn Mawr a 1-0 lead.

Both teams battled the remainder of the opening frame to no avail for either bench. The first-half ended with Bryn Mawr holding a 1-0 lead.

It didn't take the Owls long to add to their lead in the second-half. In the 53rd minute, Feuerhammer gave Bryn Mawr a 2-0 lead when she scored on a free-kick.

Lancellotti was called for a handball right outside the box. As the both teams started to set up for the kick, the referee blew the whistle and Feuerhammer sent the kick past Lancellotti into the upper corner of the goal.

The Owls were unable to capitalize on other scoring opportunities in the half but kept Notre Dame out of the net to pick up their fourth win of the season.

In goal for Bryn Mawr, junior Rebecca Joseph posted four saves for her second shutout of the year. Nine different Owls registered a total of 17 shots.

Bryn Mawr will look to make it five straight when they play host to Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 12:00 noon on Applebee Field.
