Shannon Algeo

Shannon Algeo will begin her second season as the head coach of the Bryn Mawr lacrosse program in the 2024-25 academic year.
 
Algeo spent the past seven seasons as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Gwynedd Mercy University and became the department's Senior Woman Administrator in 2021. Over the course of her career at Gwynedd Mercy, she coached numerous all-conference and all academic players. In 2018, Algeo led her team to win the NCAA Division III Statistical Champion.
 
Before her time at Gwynedd Mercy, Algeo was the assistant coach at Marywood University where she helped the Pacers to consecutive playoff appearances.

Algeo started her coaching career at College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, CA where she started the girls program and doubled its size and success in just one season. She also coached the Walnut Creek Warriors, then the Diablo Valley Scorpions and was the girls' program director for All-West Lacrosse camps. During her time in California, she gave countless personal lessons to players all across the East Bay.  

As a player, Algeo competed in the Landmark Conference at Moravian University (formerly Moravian College) and earned Landmark Conference Honor Roll every season. Algeo received her bachelor's degree from Moravian in psychology with a minor in economics. She then went on to earn her Master's degree in sport psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
 
As a sport psychology professional, Coach Algeo brings a variety of mental training experience to the Bryn Mawr College women’s lacrosse program. Focusing on building teams’ mental toughness through confidence, motivation, and focus, she has helped collegiate lacrosse teams and several high school football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis teams reach their full potential.
