In September 2025, Margaret Wilman was named Interim Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Bryn Mawr College. Wilman comes to Bryn Mawr with a lifetime of knowledge regarding high-level competitive swimming and coaching. From her own impressive high school and collegiate career to her most recent coaching experience at Radnor Aquatic Club (RAC) she is poised to bring out the best in the Bryn Mawr team.
At RAC she served as Head of Development Groups and Lead Varsity Group Coach. She continues to coach one RAC Varsity Group where she maintains her certification as a USA Swimming Core Shield Certified Coach. Margaret joined the Radnor Aquatic Club coaching staff in 2021 and has built the Developmental Program into the incredible program it has become today. She managed day-to-day operations of three developmental swim groups. The role included but was not limited to: on-deck coaching, creating session plans, writing practices, swimmer evaluations and roster placements, parent and staff communications, and creating and managing volunteer and youth coaching schedules. In addition, she founded and managed a wildly popular RAC Masters Swimming Program. She also successfully led the initiative to obtain RAC’s USA Swimming Safe Sport Certification & Recognition. During this time she also assisted with the Men's and Women's Radnor High School Varsity Team, helped coach the oldest age group for the Wildwood Crest Dolphins and coached at many USA Swim Meets for RAC.
Growing up in the Greater Philadelphia area, she swam for local programs, including Aronimink Golf Club, UMLY, and Foxcatcher. At AGC she was named League Most Outstanding Swimmer at the league championship meet and AGC Most Valuable Swimmer multiple times. She was recognized as an All American Swimmer for several years swimming at YMCA Nationals. At Foxcatcher she swam under USA Swimming Olympic Head Coach Dick Shoulberg where she was a member of the travel team competing in national and international meets achieving USA Swimming Junior Olympic, Junior National and Senior National qualifying meet times. In high school, Agnes Irwin honored her as Most Valuable Swimmer two years in a row where she consistently placed Top 2 in her events at Easterns. She then attended The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she swam with scholarship for their NCAA Division 1 ACC Championship Teams. She placed Top 3 in her events at the ACC Championship Meets and was named Most Improved Swimmer her senior year by head coach Frank Comfort and Assistant Head Coach Rich DeSelm (later to be named UNC Head Coach).
She lives in Bryn Mawr with her two children, Cash and Farrah and husband Steve, along with pug dog Dino. She continues to swim with US Swimming Masters programs and loves to run. Her goal is to elevate Bryn Mawr College's swimming program and hopes that her love and passion for the sport can positively impact BMC swimmer athletes.
