The 2025-2026 academic year marks Haley Markos’ first as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach for the Owls.

Markos comes to Bryn Mawr from Pratt Institute where she coached the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Field Event Athlete of the Year to a conference crown in the triple jump and a runner-up performance in the long jump.

As an assistant coach at Smith College from 2022-2024, Markos saw the cross country program's first back-to-back appearance at the NCAA National Championships in over 30 years. This historic campaign for Smith Cross Country achieved nine NCAA Qualifiers, one NCAA All-American in the indoor mile, one NCSA All-American, the 2023 New England Outdoor D3 Track & Field 1500m Champion, a team runner-up performance to MIT at the NEWMAC Conference Championship, and eight school records across the distance events all while the program maintained one of the top-10 team GPAs in NCAA D3. The efforts earned 2022 New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference Female Coaching Staff of the Year recognition. Markos also played an instrumental role in revitalizing Smith’s field event programming as the throws coach for the track & field team.

As a volunteer assistant coach at Bowdoin College from 2021-2022, Markos was the sole distance assistant for a program that saw four NCAA XC Qualifiers and three top-5 finishes at the 2021 New England Track & Field Championships.

Markos was a four-year member of the cross country and track & field programs at Smith College. During her first year, she also competed on the swim & dive team, where she set three school records.

Additionally, Markos has a passion for coaching youth. She coached the Sugarloaf Mountain (MA) Running Club Youth Track program for five years and currently spends her summers coaching at the Craftsbury (VT) Outdoor Center running camps.

Markos was a two-time graduate of fellow Seven Sisters institution, Smith College, with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Master's Degree in Exercise and Sport Studies.
