From Erg to Open Water: The Owls’ Camp Bob Journey

SUMMERTON, SC- Bryn Mawr rowing spent their Spring Break training at Camp Bob in South Carolina, combining competitive preparation with valuable team bonding ahead of the spring season. The week provided the Owls with the opportunity to return to the water, refine their technique, and build team chemistry in a focused training environment.

"I loved playing games against other teams at Camp Bob every night! It was so great to spend so much time in the beautiful nature around the lake."

“I think that the best parts of Camp Bob were spending time with the team and getting to row on the water, especially after spending so many weeks erging in the gym. My favorite team event was the talent show we had the day before our last practice, where some people made short performances and we made s’mores! And even though we had to wake up early to see them, the sunrise reflected off the water at Camp Bob was really beautiful."

"It’s always really refreshing to dedicate a week of our school year to our sport and really hone in on our goals as individuals and as a team with the upcoming spring race season. Camp Bob allows us to develop a strong team culture that translates into our motivation for spring racing! I loved getting the chance to row in mixed lineups and different boats, and we ended in a great scrimmage against Bowdoin College to end off the week!"
