BRYN MAWR, PA- Bryn Mawr competed closely against Kean University at home on Friday night. Prior to the start of the meet Bryn Mawr honored their three seniors:
Maya Madden,
Jane Farrell, and
Kayla Bass. Despite several strong performances across the board, the Owls ultimately fell to the Cougars, 171-90.
Highlights:
- First-year Pearl Shelton made history in the 200-yard freestyle, breaking Helen Collins' 42-year-old school record in the event (1:56.55). Shelton walked away with a first-place finish. She also clinched the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle and earned her a spot in the Bryn Mawr swimming top 10 times with the third best time in program history (5:15.19). Â To finish off her night, the first-year placed third in the 100-yard IM and earned a place in the top ten times with a seventh best time in Bryn Mawr swimming's history (1:07.23).
- Farrell secured second place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.65 and contributed to the team's second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Her performance in the 100-yard butterfly earned her a place in the Bryn Mawr swimming top 10 times with the sixth best time in the program's history.
- Samantha Ings delivered a strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 1:12.57, and placed second in the 50-yard breaststroke at 34.56.
- Madden placed third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.77. She also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.98).
The Owls return to the pool next Friday, November 21
