Swim Opens Season with Win Against McDaniel

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr swim program opened their 2023-24 season earlier Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Conference Quad Meet hosted by Gettysburg. Led by their new head coach Arthur Wang, the Owls earned a win against McDaniel (174-66) and battled in tough losses to Swarthmore (218-43) and Gettysburg (217-44).

Highlights:
  • Two individual swimmers junior Maddie Sullivan and first-year Mina Rothberg broke into Bryn Mawr's Top-10 times in their respective events. Sullivan earned a 1:13.99 in the 100 breaststroke while Rothberg finished with a time of 2:38.52 in the 200 breaststroke.
  • Sullivan and Rothberg were also members of Bryn Mawr's 200 medley relay team, also including first-year Dalia Ibrahim and sophomore Jane Farrell, who earned a time of 1:57.49 to also break into Bryn Mawr's Top-10 times.
  • Senior Vivian Sandifer competed in a tough triple of events in the 1000 freestyle (11:28.39), 200 butterfly, (2:33.75) and 500 freestyle (5:31.86).
  • Ibrahim earned a personal record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.09.
  • First-year Samantha Ings competed in her first meet as an Owl, swimming the 1000 freestyle (11:39.46), 200 freestyle (2:11.51), and the 200 backstroke (2:37.14).
The Bryn Mawr swim program will continue their season next Saturday as they compete in a tri-match meet against Cedar Crest and Lebanon Valley.
