The Bryn Mawr Rowers took on the Head of the Housatonic course this Saturday for their first fall regatta and the first time in history that the Owls competed at the Housatonic. Saturday was also the first race for coach Katie Ely with the Bryn Mawr crew, who began her season with Bryn Mawr in Fall 2022.
Braving a head wind, the Women's Varsity 8+ (Coxswain: Abby Harris Stroke: Camryn Teranes, 7: Tova Just, 6: Trinity Dillard, 5: Olivia Herman, 4: Madelynn Hicks, 3: Eleanor Wheeler, 2: Sarah Stephens, and Sara Radmall in Bow) finished third in the non-Division I category with a time of 18:12.4, just 4 seconds off of U.S Coast Guard. Trinity College held the winning time of 17:04. The Women's 2nd Varsity 8+ (Coxswain: Sophia Hoffman, Stroke: Emily Rho, 7: Lily Goltz, 6: Lindsay Damon, 5: Coco Vallon, 4: Gwen Rewoldt, 3: Emme Law, 2: Claire Ford and Spencer Smith in Bow) raced in the same event and finished 8th with a time of 21:25. Both crews set a strong foundation for more fall races to come.
The Owls will race on their home course on the Schuylkill river next Sunday, October 16th at the Navy Day Regatta.
