Bryn Mawr Swimmers Give Dickinson Strong Test

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Owls swim team was back in action Friday night for another Centennial Conference tilt, as this time, the Bryn Mawr swimmers took on Dickinson. It was a solid night for many of the Owls in action, with plenty of season-best performances, but Dickinson did manage to do enough to hang on for a 111-73 win on the night.

Becca Adlai-Gail got the night off to a strong start with a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle. Swimming in one of her strongest events, the senior did not disappoint, posting an 11:29.69 to take second place. That time also just missed a new season-best by almost a second. Faith Meacham also took fourth in the event for the Owls.

In the 200 freestyle, Owls first-year Kelly Peterson shattered her previous best this season by seven tenths of a second to take third place on the night. Peterson just outtouched a Dickinson opponent in a time of 2:09.08 to take that third place position. Rachel Adlai-Gail also earned a season-best finish in the event with a time of 2:18.49. Peterson also swam the second-fastest 500 free of the meet and posted a new season-best time in the event with a finish of 5:48.68.

In the 100 backstroke, Varuna Jasodanand (1:08.12) and Clara Costello (1:15.09) each swam the event for the first time this year, while Ruth Mullin (1:19.00) posted a new season best.

Fellow first-year Emmy Wisz also earned a second-place finish on the night with a great swim in the 100 fly. Wisz just missed out on a season best, but still took second in the event with a time of 1:03.88. Becca and Rachel Adlai-Gail each swam the event as well and finished back-to-back with times of 1:08.91 and 1:10.25.

Swimming the 200 IM for the first time this season, Anna Danesh posted a strong performance in the event, taking fourth place with a time of 2:32.63.

Lucy Bruemmer swam the 100 free for the first time in 2019-20 and performed well, taking fifth place with a time of 1:00.26.

The Owls' top 200 free relay team of Peterson, Bruemmer, Madelyn Schwimmer, and Ryan Griffin combined to post a season-best time of 1:50.12 in that event to cap off the night.

Bryn Mawr will be back in action next weekend for a non-conference three-team meet at Elizabethtown on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
