Cross Country Finishes 6th At The Jack St. Claire Memorial Cross Country Championship

BELMONT PLATEAU, Pa. - Saturday October 7th the Bryn Mawr College cross country team finished 6th at the Jack St. Claire Memorial Cross Country Championship. The challenging course and high temperatures today were amongst the obstacles the team endured, however the Owls pushed through and landed some great performances. The Owls top finisher was freshman Emily George in 20th with a time of 27:42.7.

Finishing after Emily George was sophomore Shannon Fisher who crossed the line in 29:50.6, good for 33rd overall. The sophomore runner made an inspiring push to link up with Campbell Powell (30:20.6) on the woods loop portion of the course. Together the pair would finish second and third respectively for the Owls. Finishing 44th and 45th was freshman Emily Haller and junior Haley Varnum with a times of 31:11.16 and 31:19.3 respectively. Haller was able to put together another strong performance and her time of 31:11.16 landed her a PR. Junior Haley Varnum ran in her season debut and rounded out the top five for Bryn Mawr.

The Owls rested some of their top runners this weekend but had great performances from some of the younger squad. Coach Hewitt stated that "this was our final tune-up before heading north for the Seven Sisters championships. I think the racing group really fined tuned the things they needed to to be ready for next week". The Owls will look to carry the positive momentum into next weekend as they travel to Northampton, Massachusetts for the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday October 14th.

"The team was supported at the meet today, but Margaret Patchin '16, the Jones', multiple significant others, as well as Dempsey and Dunkin. Many thanks to all who made it to the meet and to those who support us from a far" - Coach Hewitt
