STEVENSON, Md. - The Bryn Mawr cross country team competed in the 2015 Centennial Conference Championship earlier Saturday morning, taking part in the 10-team invitational to determine who gets bragging rights across the conference. Hannah Hastings helped lead the team to a solid 7th place finish, as the senior took 29th place in the event with a time of 23:18. The Owls narrowly missed out on beating Gettysburg for the third straight season, as this year the Bullets were able to barely sneak by Bryn Mawr on points.
Right behind Hastings, sophomore Kate Edwards took the second position for Bryn Mawr, finishing in 36th place in a time of 23:33. Rebekah Gallop was the third runner home for the Owls, posting a time of 24:05 for a 49th place finish.
Alex Beda ran a solid 24:55 for 66th place in the race. Ashley Macina (25:29) and Haley Varnum (26:11) finished fifth and sixth for the Owls, respectively. First years Chelsea Thangavelu and Sophie Webb finished back-to-back in 89th and 90th place with times of 26:52 and 27:00. Claire Pettit, Yue Yang, Lily Falk, and Hannah Kim also all took part in the varsity 6k race.
In the 6k open race, Lizzie Robinson led the Owls by finishing in 36th place with a time of 28:06. Other finishers in the open race included Allegra Wham, Sarah Ledger, Mary Cooper, Margaret Patchin, Maura Fitzpatrick, and Jocelyn Martinez.
The Owls will now spend the next couple of weeks gearing up for the all-important NCAA Mid East Regional, which will be held on November 14th in Newville, Pennsylvania.
