CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Claudia Keep continued to impress as the September racing schedule comes to an end. At the annual Dickinson College Long-Short Invite, Keep posted the fastest time in the Long run to claim her third individual win of the season with a time of 22:43. Her other wins were at the Haverford Open and Bryn Mawr College Invite.
Keep took the lead following the opening mile before opening-up a commanding 12-second lead by the 2k mark of the event. With a late charge from a trio of runners from New York University, Keep was able to fend them off by holding a 25-second lead to the finish line.
Keep was not the only Owl turning heads this weekend as classmate Kim Wiley sported a 24:55 with a 34th place finish and a new personal best time on a 6K course. Wiley was followed in by first year Sydney Maves in her 6k debut. Senior Sarah Macholdt and sophomores Betsy Helm and Margaret Patchin, followed suit, all setting new personal best times.
It wasn't all about the 6K runners today as earlier in the day the 4K race took place. After opening the race with a 6:17 mile, junior Elaine Schmidt finished the race with a new personal best time of 17:04. Freshman Ashley Macina and senior co-captain Victoria Travis finished with times of 18:10 and 18:22, respectively,with Macina setting a new personal best time. Also setting personal best times in a 4K run was sophomore Yamina Mohattane, freshmen Carissa Yao, Adriana Castilla Hernandez, and Kristian Sumner.
