Cross Country Competes at Mule/Falcon Invite

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The cross country team made their annual trek to Allentown for the Mule/Falcon Invite hosted by Cedar Crest College.

With eight of the teams' top 10 runners resting up for next weekend's Long/Short Invite at Dickinson College; it was an afternoon for others to shine.

Leading the Owls this week was senior Sarah Macholdt. Macholdt has been a top runner for the Owls all season as she continues to race great in her final season. After pacing freshman Ashley Macina for a majority of the race to a personal best time, Macholdt finished the course strong as Bryn Mawr's top finisher.

Other runners racing to personal best times included freshman Adriana Castilla Hernandez, Ann Lin, Kristina Sumner and Carissa Yao.

Sophomores Betsy Helm and Yamina Mohattane ran breakout races. Helm paced with classmate Margaret Patchin for the opening two miles before turning it on in the third mile to finish the race strong.  "It was one of the best race finishes I've seen in my time at Bryn Mawr", noted head coach Jason Hewitt after the race. "Betsy looked like she could have gone out for another 5k if she wanted to."

The Owls are back to action when they travel to Carlisle, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the Dickinson College Long/Short Invite.
