Cross Country Has Strong Showing at BMC XC Invitational

MEDIA, Pa. – The 2012 Bryn Mawr College cross country team started their campaign with a strong showing at the second annual Bryn Mawr College XC Invitational held at Rose Tree Park in Media, Pa.

The Owls had a strong showing as a team with eight finishers in the top-20. Leading the Owls with a seventh place finish was senior captain Kristina Kronauer with a time of 21:13.38. She was followed by freshman Rebecca Craig in 11th place with a 22:16.06.

After Craig, Bryn Mawr took home 13th-15th place with sophomore Kim Wiley leading the charge with a 22:55.17 followed by classmate Elaine Schmidt (23:00.07) and freshman Alexandra Beda (23:02.48). The next wave of Owls was led by freshman Hannah Hastings (17th overall, 23:19.44), sophomore Elsie Chung (19th overall, 23:40.39) and sophomore Sarah Macholdt (20th overall, 23:44.65).

In addition to the strong performances by the upperclasswomen, head coach Jason Hewitt was impressed with everyone's performance, including the first-years.

Bryn Mawr will look to continue on today's success when they travel to Lebanon Valley College next weekend for the Dutchmen Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8, in Annville, Pa.
