BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Owls swim team was right back in the water on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against Immaculata and Cedar Crest, and were the Owls ever impressive in this one. Bryn Mawr swimmers won eight of the nine individual events and both of the relays in action on the day en route to big wins over both the Mighty Macs and the Falcons.
Kelly Peterson earned a big win in the 200 freestyle, and she was joined on the podium by Madelyn Schwimmer and Lauren Birmingham. All three swimmers posted season-bests in the event, and Peterson's 2:09.78 was the fastest time of the year for the Owls in the event. Peterson would also go on to win the 500 freestyle, posting the second-fastest time of the season for Bryn Mawr in the event en route to the first-place finish.
Schwimmer also performed brilliantly in the 100 freestyle, setting a season-best time of 1:00.91 to take first place in the event on the day. Griffin came across right behind her for a second-place finish.
Bryn Mawr took the top four spots in the 50 freestyle as well, with Ryan Griffin leading the charge for the Owls. Lucy Bruemmer took second in the event, setting a season-best time in the event of 27.62.
Swimming the 200 IM for the second day in a row, Maya Schneider took first place in the event on Saturday. Hannah Nye and Ruth Mullin also swam in the event and posted season bests. Schneider also took first place in the 200 backstroke, swimming a season-best time of 2:24.98 in the event to take the top spot.
Emmy Wisz earned a win in the 1000 yard freestyle to give Bryn Mawr the first big individual win of the day. Anna Danesh joined her first-year teammate in the event, and Danesh was able to take second to help the Owls claim the top two spots in the grueling distance event.
Wisz would also win the 200 fly, while Becca Adlai-Gail crossed the line right behind her in second.
The Owls also earned the win in the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay, with Lucy Bruemmer, Kelly Peterson, Madelyn Schwimmer, and Emmy Wisz setting a season-best time in the 200 free at the end of the day.
Bryn Mawr will be right back in action next week, as the Owls will travel to Carlisle, PA to take on Dickinson. Meet time for the Centennial Conference meet is 6:00 PM on Friday, November 8th.
