ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr Track and Field team was in action earlier Saturday afternoon at the Muhlenburg Invitational. 24 points earned from the throws combined with three first place finishes for the Owls landed the team a fifth place finish overall and conference win over Muhlenberg College.
Natalia Phillip claimed another school record in the Discus. Her best throw traveled 39.39 meters surpassed her own school record previously set in 2017 (36.37). In a competitive field of 23, Phillip finished first in the event. Phillip was also a participant in the shot put where her best throw of 11.47 meters landed her a second place finish overall.
Halena Martin claimed a third place finish in the javelin. Her best throw of 32.93 meters was just .05 meters off her school record set last weekend. In the discus Martin posted a 10th place finish with a best throw of 30.44. After her performances in today's meet Martin will qualify to compete in two events at the Centennial Conference Championships.
In the 100 meter hurdles Jennica Terry continued to shine. In the event Terry crossed the line at 15.36, beat out 18 other competitors and won the event. Her time of 15.36 was just .01 of a second shy of her school record set last weekend. Jennica Terry also competed in the 200 meter dash and finished 5th overall for the Owls in a time of 27.40.
Rachel Green posted another strong performance in the triple jump. After breaking the school record last weekend at the UC Invitational, Greene posted another big jump for the Owls with a best mark of 10.35 and won the triple jump.
Haley Varnum made her season debut in the 400 hurdles, and after posting a 1:15.06 finish Varnum will now qualify to compete at the Centennial Conference Championships. Olivia Brintlinger-Conn was another participant in the event for the Owls. Brintliner-Conn finished 10th overall at 1:18.06, landed a new PR and will go on to compete at the conference championships in May.
The Owls saw two PRs in the 1500 from Emily George and Emily Darrow. In a full field of 33 competitors Emily George landed a 25th place finish at 5:51.66 while Emily Darrow closed out with a 29th place finish in a time of 6:16.00.
The Owls are slated to return to the track Saturday, April 14th for the Coach P Invite at Moravian College.
