NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Bryn Mawr track and field team headed up to New York City earlier Friday afternoon to compete at the historic Armory venue as part of the NYU DIII Invitational. Plenty of Owls saw action on the day, with plenty of season bests, and even a couple of personal records, too.
Anna Kyle got the day started in the mile, where she won her heat with a time of 5:30.63. That was good enough for 16th place out of 68 competitors, and it was also a new season best time for the junior. Emma Fiorini and Sarah Keane also competed in the event, and their times of 5:49 and 6:03 were also season bests.
Kass Wojcik had a busy day for the Owls, starting with a season best in the 400 with a 12th place finish in a time of 1:03.11. Later, she set a collegiate personal record in the 200, taking 14th with a time of 27.43.
In the 3k, the Owls saw a huge personal record from Emily Darrow. The sophomore ran a 13:19 to take 29th place in the packed event and set a new fastest time for herself.
Julie Gonzales was another Owl who saw a lot of action, as she competed in the 60 hurdles and the pole vault. In hurdles, the senior posted a season best time of 11.05, while she topped 2.74 meters in the pole vault to finish in eighth place.
Haley Varnum and Allegra Wham wrapped things back up trackside, as the pair put up solid races in the 800. Varnum finished in 30th with a time of 2:32.66, while Wham finished close behind with a time of 2:45.
The Owls will be right back in action next week at Monmouth University for the Winter Collegiate Invitational, which kicks off on Friday afternoon.
