Owls Dominate Neumann in First Home Match of Spring

Caroline Horvatits plays in spring 2018

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr tennis team got their spring season truly underway with their first home match of the year. After playing well in the Seven Sisters Championship back in February, the Owls were finally able to really kick off the spring campaign at home by welcoming Neumann to campus. Bryn Mawr was unstoppable on the afternoon, as the Owls only lost three games the entire day en route to a 6-0 win of the match.

Caroline Horvatits and Francesca Caramazza got the winning started for the Owls by picking up an 8-1 victory at second doubles to open the match. Audrey Camacho and Amalia Parrish soon followed, as that duo combined perfectly at the top doubles spot to claim an 8-0 victory.

The dominance continued in singles, starting at the top spot. There, Camacho showcased more high-quality play en route to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her opponent. Caramazza was the next Owl to finish, and she too picked up an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles. Horvatits lost a game in her first set, but still claimed another strong 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles. Christina Xue jumped into the lineup at third singles, and she closed out the clean sweep for the Owls by claiming an overwhelming 6-0, 6-1 victory of her own on the day.

Bryn Mawr will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon, as the Owls welcome Gwynedd Mercy to campus. Match time on Sunday is set for 1:00 PM.
