TEMPE, Ariz. - The academic honors continue to roll in this summer for Bryn Mawr student-athletes, as this time it was the Owls tennis squad reeling in the academic praise. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced their 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes this week, with five Owls earning individual recognition from the coaches association.
Abbygail Brewster, Francesca Caramazza, Mariam Haider, Jennifer Laske, and Lizzie Siegle each were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1) be a varsity letter winner, 2) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
Bryn Mawr was also named an All-Academic Team by the organization after a strong all-around performance from the entire squad. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
The Owls are just weeks from kicking off their 2018-19 campaign, as the team will be back in action in September for their first matches of the year. For a look at the season ahead, be sure to check out the tennis season preview here.
