Bryn Mawr Field Hockey Draws Academic Praise From NFHCA

GILBERT, Ariz. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Assosciation announced their selections to the 2017 National Academic Squad earlier Thursday, and the Bryn Mawr field hockey program featured plenty of student-athletes on the list.

Eleven different Owls earned their way onto the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, including the entire sophomore and junior class. To be named to the team, student-athletes must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. Emma Hicks, Abigail Lua, Angela Meng, and Hannah Zamore were each bestowed with the honor for the third consecutive year, while Mary Cugini, Lydia Fisher, and Grace Morris all received the accolade for the second straight year. Joining that group in earning the honor were first-year student-athletes Kelly Bergman, Emily Britt, Rebecca Britt, and Sara Rilatt.

The Owls were also one of 130 programs to receive the Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award, which recognizes programs that earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall Semester of 2017-18.

Bryn Mawr will be right back at work this spring with their non-traditional season and training, as the Owls gear up for a big fall campaign ahead!
